Inspiration
Many of us have loved ones close to us who struggle with diabetes or are prediabetic. Because of that we decided to make games which would be easily accessible and fun to use for anyone who wanted to learn healthier day-to-day habits in order to control or avoid diabetes.
What it does
We made 4 games, a choose-your-own story, trivia, bmi-calculator, and a stack game all centered around learning about diabetes and its effects. These games were made to be fun and educational! They were hosted on the interface tool "Figma", which made a presentable website from which anyone can access the games.
How we built it
We built it using Figma, HTML, CSS, Javascript, and the platform CodeHS to host our code.
Challenges we ran into
Structuring and dealing with the design of the games was initially a little challenging. However, working together they were figured out. Another challenge was that we were going to initially hard-code a website for the games, but after getting started, we soon noticed it was too restricting for our vision. As a result, we used the inter-face tool, Figma.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud we were able to make multiple games, not only 1. And we are also proud that we were able to provide a fun and very pleasing user experience which would make users more likely to play the games.
What we learned
We learned that coding a game using HTML and javascript is initially a lot harder than it looks. We also got to learn more about diabetes and how to make healthier life choices ourselves! One thing that we had to do a lot was figure out a lot of clever ways to solve our problems!
What's next for The D-fense
Making more games, and more fun games, as well as hard-coding a website to host the games!
