Inspiration
Inspired by the theme of social good, we set out to help those in need, and eventually settled on food to combine the problems of hunger and waste.
What it does
Food 4 All is where extra food meets hunger to help kill two birds with one stone by allowing restaurants and stores to post their food for those in need to claim.
How we built it
We built the app with mainly React for the frontend with Material UI, HTML/CSS, and JavaScript. For the backend, we used Flask and MongoDB.
Challenges we ran into
We struggled with connecting everything in the end between the front and back end, and with learning how to use MongoDB and Flask. We also ran through routing challenge in React js but we could solve them with some research.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Some things we're proud of are our amazing UI and ability to add things to the database.
What we learned
We learned a ton about MongoDB and Flask, as well as React, while working on this project. Having never used MongoDB or Flask, except for one hacker on our team who was working on the frontend, it was a wild ride to learn how to make things work in Flask, and arguable even more of a challenge in MongoDB.
