Inspiration
The inspiration behind our project stems from the pressing need for accessible mental health support in our society. We were moved by personal experiences and stories of individuals struggling with mental health challenges, as well as the alarming statistics highlighting the prevalence of mental health issues globally. Recognizing the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) to address this need, we were inspired to create a chatbot for mental health support as a scalable and non-judgmental resource.
What it does
Our AI for social good project, the Chatbot for Mental Health Support, provides a confidential and empathetic platform for individuals to seek guidance, coping strategies, and resources for managing their mental well-being. Through natural language processing (NLP) algorithms, the chatbot engages in conversations with users, offering personalized support based on their expressed needs and concerns. It provides psycho-education, self-care tips, crisis intervention, and referrals to professional help when necessary.
How we built it
We built our chatbot using a combination of NLP techniques, machine learning models, and chatbot development frameworks. We trained the chatbot on a diverse dataset of mental health-related conversations to improve its understanding and response accuracy. Leveraging open-source libraries and APIs, we integrated the chatbot with messaging platforms and deployed it in a secure and scalable environment.
